I am moving in a few days and this is all I have to show for. A golf trophy and some medals.

I will be humming this song while I am away.

“Hinahanap-hanap kita Manila
Ang ingay mong kay sarap sa tenga
Mga Jeepney mong nagliliparan
Mga babae mong naggagandahan
Take me back in your arms Manila”

I should actually add ;

” Mga karera mo sa Boni at sa MOA,
Mga trail run mo sa Timberland at Nuvali,
I am gonna miss running on the skyway,
Bigyan mo ako ng entry FINISHLINE,
Magdo-donate ako ng sapatos kay BR,
I-reserba ako ng kopya ng TBR at Frontrunner,
I-down load ang pic sa Photovendo
Mag-kwentuhan sa Chowking kasama ang Happy Feet
Hold me in your arm as I cross the finishline,
Promise me you’ll never let go “

Okay I gotta go before I get too emotional.

See your at the starting line.

Checklist

You know you are a runner when you add the following items in your checklist when moving to a new country;

– Find a home near some running routes.
– Check out the local running clubs.
– Find a list of local races.
– Locate the closest track oval and get their schedules.
– Find a gym and pool for cross training.
– Find the local running specialty store.
– Check the flight schedules and see if you can fit in a running holiday.

Did I miss anything?

See you at the races.

“Travel and change of place impart new vigor to the mind” ~Seneca

I have been working overseas for the most of my career. I would regularly move to a new country or location as the company deems fit. It always excites me and as Seneca says it “imparts new vigor”.

But this impending move is a little bit harder since we have grown roots which we hope to keep despite the distance. Our running roots will be the hard to replicate. Breakfast at Chowking with the Happy Feet and Takbo.ph , Nike track sessions in Ultra with Rio and his coaches, dinner with bloggers, post race banter with the running regulars, the photovendo pictures, the hills of Alabang and okay I will miss Mckinely hill. Luckily, the world wide web will help us keep in touch as we will be reading the Philippine running blogs and checking the race results regularly.

Tiffin will miss going up the podium, (but she still might surprise us) and the kids will miss the Supertrikids events.

I checked over the web and the races are not so frequent in our new home. This should give us more time to train and focus on key races. But we will still miss the weekly races in Manila. We hope to bring out the running butterfly in us since we can concentrate on training and not be distracted by racing every week.

See you at the starting line.

takbo para kay Kristo 004, originally uploaded by m8parco.

Watching the runners only made me miss running even more. I was so excited taking pictures and running from on spot to another. I suddenly realized that my calf did not hurt so much. It has been a week and I was seriously tempted to go for a slow jog.

But I had a sore throat and I decided to push it back to a later date. So I did the next best thing. I registered in three races. The Neutrogena run, Enervon at Timberland and my last scheduled race is going to be the Natures Valley run.

Three easy 10K races that should hopefully keep me motivated.

See you at the starting line.

Wish me luck and see you at the starting line
